Variety Award to Honour Jim Bartley

On May 29th 2009 Variety Club were privilaged to honour Ireland’s own great Jim Bartley from Fair City. Our Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne presented the Variety Award honouring Jim for 50 years in entertainment in the Mansion House. Sean Dunphy and Sonny Knowles with Susan Lyons from Upstart Productions ensured we all enjoyed a great evening.

Producer Niall Matthews showed a capsule DVD going over Jim’s career spanning fifty years, from the days of Tolka Row to the present ‘Fair City’.

We met Tony from Fair City and Jim’s Brother and his on-screen daughter Susan amongst many other friends who came out to celebrate this great Irish Character. Sean Dunphy sang and gave us a laugh a minute with his singing antics and Sonny Knowles filled the room with his enbracing singing fun with Jim.

Pete St. John presented a superb signed painting of ‘Dublin in the Rare Old Times’ which Jim, Pete and Sonny sang in trio for us.
