Sean Dunphy Award

On 5th June 2008, Variety honoured Mr. Sean Dunphy, one of Ireland’s best loved Showband singers throughout the years. The Mansion House made a fabulous setting for such an Important event, where Sean Dunphy heartily sang “If I Could Choose” (our Eurovision entry 1967).

Lord Mayor Paddy Bourke co-hosted the event with great aplomb. Susan Lyons, Jackie,and Karla from Upstart Productions sang superbly, while Irish tenor Brian Hoey, soprano Mary Sheridan De Brun, Sonny Knowles, Val Joyce and Vera Morgan were some of the great names present on the night. Many friends and family members were also there to celebrate with Sean Dunphy, while also showing support to Variety, the Children’s Charity of Ireland.
